Rules

Perform the route instructions in numerical order beginning with route instruction 1. Use the evidence on the map to determine the streets/roads you are to take. Rd = street = court = avenue = st = ave. Road names, when given,  will be given exactly in full. Start at A in the direction of the arrow. We have not used any road segment that goes off the page. When a question refers to an object shown on the map, you are to assume you can see any object if you were/are within any part of it by 1/4 inch or less.

Definitions:

Opportunity – a named road.

Before – To turn at the last opportunity before the object or road referred to.

Answer These Questions about the Route you Traveled

Q1. Did you pass a light bulb while on First Ave?

Q2. Did you pass a movie camera while on Gabby Street?

Q3. Did you pass a Christmas Tree while on the Low Road?

Q4. Did you pass a little girl with a backpack while on Arthur Road?

Q5. At which intersection do you end the rallye?

\Q1. Did you pass a light bulb while on First Ave?

No. The route instruction read ‘Right on 1st Ave’. Road rallying is very specific, first does not equal 1st unless equated in the general instructions (rules of the rallye. You should have traveled to 1st. This is scored by this question, on course people did not see the light bulb.

Q2. Did you pass a movie camera while on Gabby Street?

No. The definition of a Tee merely calls for the intersection to be in the general shape of the letter T. Not necessarily for you though (a regular Tee definition would include a part about it being a Tee with you  ’traveling up the vertical stem’. On course go on Della (Perry Mason’s secretary) you travel, off course to gabby Street (Old time baseball announcer)

Q3. Did you pass a Christmas Tree while on the Low Road?

Yes. You are on the Low Road because the route instruction 6 read ‘Right or Left at Tee’. In road rallying you always do the instruction that you can execute first. So you went RIGHT at Penny Lane not Left or right at Lonesome Road. To read this properly to do at the Tee it would read: ‘Right at Tee or Left at Tee’.

Q4. Did you pass a little girl with a backpack while on Arthur Road?

Yes. Route instructions 8 and 9 were reversed. You didn’t do 9 first did you?

Q5. At which intersection do you end the rallye?

You end at Arthur and Cynthia (or lonesome). The definition of Before requires you to turn at the last chance you can prior to the object, road, etc. mentioned.
